Tell your friend to stay away. This is not a consensual thing. Your friend consents and the professor consents but I doubt that the wife consents. No, there is nothing “moral” about this at all.

Hello,
Bad idea. Leaving out the morality of adultery,
1) The administration may take a dim view of this and the prof could lose his job. I have seen this happen before.
2) All her academic career, if found out will have little value or credibility. ALL WILL THINK SHE IS GETTING AN A FOR AN F!
Cheers,
Michael Kelly

It’s wrong to date a married person, especially if, as the word “consensual ” suggests, the relationship involves sex. It’s also unwise to date even an unmarried professor with whom one is currently taking a class or expects to take a class in the future. Once the teacher-student relationship is over, however, it’s another matter. I know several long, happy marriages that began that way.

no way I think this is very un-ethical, an I am a pretty liberal person. First of all he is married - how would you feel if you married the love of your life an he replaced you with a ‘younger model’? Also dating a prof makes it real hard to have a professional relationship with him. It also implies that he will give you higher marks without you doing the appripriate work which is unfair to other students who work hard for their marks. and btw any prof who agrees to sleep with his students is unprofesssional and does not respect you as a student because he knows that someone who would sleep with thier prof has little respect for them self and little dignity.

It’s never okay.
Think about how his spouse would feel. If you don’t want to be cheated on, then you shouldn’t take part in cheating with someone else!
It’s not like her relationship will go anywhere either, he’s married!
Married or not it’s unethical to date your professor.

ok the only way it is entirely consensual is if your friend is ok with it, the professor is ok with it, and the professors spouse is ok with it. otherwise, its wrong. if the spouse is ok with it, its ok, weird and kinda crazy albeit, but ok. but it doesnt matter it the professor and your friend think its ok, its the spouse thats being wronged in this situation.
It’s never okay to date someone married…
It’s never okay to date your teacher or professor
It’s never okay to date your boss
It’s unwise to date co-workers…..
