Pros:

It reduces a big number of potential guests in one swoop

It keeps you from inviting those who have a bug chance of not being able to go to your wedding

Cons:

Some of your good friends living out of town or abroad that you haven’t seen in a while may actually fly or back home to go to your wedding.

Rather than choosing guests who are important to you, it may turn out that you are choosing guests for the sake of convenience

Divide up the guest list by bride, groom and parents. Make it an even split so that everyone can decided who to invite for their allotted spots

Pros:

It makes things equal and fair for the couple and the stakeholders.

It makes the stakeholders feel important and respected because they are given a choice and power in their allotted spaces

Con:

The groom, bride or stakeholder may have more friends than the other. This may give one person the stressful task of having to not invite some special people in his/her life just because there’s no more space left.

Would you invite that person to your home for dinner?

Pros:

This is a really good way for you to decide whether you are just inviting someone to fill in an empty space and make you wedding look festive or whether this person is truly important.

It makes you realise that this event is not an ordinary event, that this could be the greatest day of your life that you would like to share with your good friends and family.

Cons:

There are some people we genuinely like but are not the kind of friend who would come to your house for dinner. They may not be that type.

Your parents may want to invite some of their friends to your wedding.
