How to get a girlfriend

Hi and thanks for reading (and answering my question). On Sat, (4/22/09) some acquaintances of mine showed up to my office’s annual marketing event/barbeque with their bfs. They also brought a third guy whom they introduced me to then quickly went away so he and I could “get to know eachother”. I had no idea they were going to do this so of course I was unprepared. The acquaintences asked me out to dinner with their group that night (which included the guy they brought top the event). We were all going to follow one another from the event to the bar/club and since i was following him, he gave me his number in case I got lost. The cars separated and I called him. (This means my number should be in his phone, right?) He and i sat next to eachother and hung out but didn’t get to talk too much because one of the girl acquantances was pretty drunk and kept talking to me about work all night. He was really sweet during dinner, and because he found out I’m a vegetarian, he picked out the chicken from his meal then shared some with me. At the end of the night he walked me to my car and gave me a hug. I reminded him about the concert I’d brought up at dinner (which is this weekend, exactly 1 week from the night we met) and told him to call me if he felt like going to it. No call or any contact yet. What should I do??? I am interested in getting to know him better. I liked him based on the short hours I spent with him. Guys, your input would be really appreciated here. He should have my number and i did say to call me if he wanted to go to the concert but the time is so short now to get tickets…does this mean he’s just not interested? Or, because he gave me his number do you think he wants me to call him? I haven’t dated for a while so I’m not completely up to date on the “rules”… Please advise.

I met this girl at a bar and she was an ex girlfriend of a friend i barely knew in high school. She gave me her number and said we can start out as friend and then see what happens. I asked her if this is a bit weird since I used to know your ex i don’t want to put you in an uncomfortable spot. She said it’s fine I wouldn’t be giving you my number if i felt weird about it. So I have called her up about 2 times maybe in the last 2 weeks and I have asked her we should do something sometime but I never set anything up for sure. The last time I called I asked her waht she was doing over the weekend she said she had no plans..so i asked we should do something she said it was fine but to call her tomorrow so we can set it up. I don’t get this what difference does it make from today to tomorrow. Is this a way of saying leave me alone or could this be because I am not giving her a date and time just kind of saying we should do something? I am not sure I am getting mixed signals..please Help!

I’m getting a lot of mixed signals from a girl I know. We’re both 26 year old college graduates, I’m black, she’s white. I know her through a mutual friend who has been trying to get me to ask her out, but I wasn’t sure if she was into dating a black guy (I already know she has only dated white guys before).
About a month ago, my friend told me she started taking a more serious interest. About two weeks ago, she gave me a ride home from a dinner party, and we ended up making out in the car.
She told me she wanted to be upfront, and that she didn’t want to get into anything too serious, but was interested in hooking up. After a few opinions on YA the other day, I asked her for a bit more clarification on what she was after. She said she wanted to an exclusive relationship, which cleared up some doubts some people had raised on that issue. She then said she wanted to start the relationship off by basing it around sex, and then we’d see what developed.
She is pretty clear she doesn’t want to settle down yet (and neither do I). This girl is very hot, has a good job, and dresses well, but she’s also a bit edgy - she smokes, she’s open about enjoying sex, and she’s even asked if I’m circumcised (she likes her men circumcised, so she says).
Is this something I should get into, or is she just going to take me for a ride?

he seemed a lil bored at first, hes body language was terrible…then towards the end of the date he perked right up lol. when some random asked if we were together.. he was very quick to say no…but then its only the third date
he kept telling me why he had to cut the date short, cos he had to get up early and he wanted me to feel secure….and he was keen to know why i said i was going home early too…
then before i left, he kept asking how long it takes for me to get home, what tram i take, what number, where it goes… towards the end he seemed more relaxed, and happy…

My girlfriend is perfectly ladylike during the day and out in public but i am truly bothered at night when she is sleeping she passes wind. It’s not even like its a quiet ladylike fart either its loud and disturbing!
I end up physically revolted when this happens and it lowers my opinion of her. How do i talk to her about this without embarrassing her too much?

I’m nearly 41, but I really look really young, about 27, which creates some problems. Younger women don’t want to date an older man, and older women don’t want to date someone that looks as if he could be their son. That alone creates issues.
Also, I have a daughter that is 17 and will be going to college in a year and a son at home who is 13. The odds are stacked against me……
Does anyone have some useful tips???
