How to get a girlfriend

I been single for about 3 or 4 months now , im tired of being alone and i miss having someone to love on all the time.
I have been hurt alot in the past from previous relationships, and that makes it hard for me to trust men.
It has actually lowered my self asteem alot and makes it hard for me to meet guys also.
I have tried the internet dating stuff and when i find a connection with a guy my self esteem blows it cause i get scared to meet him.
I dont think im a ugly girl at all .. theres just some things about me i would change like my weight and my skin.
Im not fat im just a little thick. Alot of people say im beautiful but i find it hard to belive. and thats were the trouble come in for dating, being scared of rejection.
I just want to get out there and find the perfect guy that i could see myself marrying and falling madly in love with , but i just dont know how to get out there and look for him.

this is going to seem very elementary…so consider this a fair warning.
BACKGROUND:
We are in our mid-20s….been dating over a year…his mom just flew me up to visit her a month ago, so were pretty serious it seems….no fights….fantastic friendship….etc
QUESTION:
How/Why say “I love you”?
DETAILS:
we don’t talk about feelings or anything (weird i guess) but its very evident that we are crazy about eachother. many “I love you” moments, but never the words…just the moments accompanied by silence and its very comforting and sweet.
of course i want to say the ” i love you”….ive said it in past relationships (u know, the relationships where you’re so anxious that you WANT to say ‘I love you’ so you do bc your so infatuated with the person and the idea of loving them that you mistake it for love…) but this is different…the love comforts and excites me in a relaxing way rather than making me anxious and excited…..basically, it feels REAL and not like 5 year old puppy love….feels so real that it just seems natural and expressed in its own way aside from using words….
so….actually saying it hasnt come up…
so,….what is a girl to do? I dont mind not saying it, but i would like to express myself with him once and a while and we never do!! lol…we both are very affectionate through action, just never with words….i enjoy it but im not used to it…..should i just let it be or try the whole ’saying how you feel’ thing?
ever been like this? what would you prefer?

You see in my school, there are two girls I want to ask out. Obviously I’m not gonna ask out both. I know none of you know me but I’ll give some detail. Alright both girls I don’t know very well. In my school I’m averagely popular. Both those girls are popular to an extreme. I’m going to use code names of #1 and #2. Now #1 I’ve known a bit longer the only downside is that she is very loud and yeah you see my point.Now I don’t know how this will be taken by my friends. Now with#2, my not close whatsoever “friend” dated her. Now it was for a short while and i put air quotes around friend because now he ignores me. Now, this has been bugging me for a while I’ve flipped coins which is stupid I know and once had a sleepless night! Anyway, neither one is interested in me no way. I mean I have terible luck when it comes to dating. You’ve read my story now please help out a fellow Yahoo! user. I’ll even answer your questions (I’m good with them)

asked awhile ago if a year would an approiate time to get engaged and my boyfriend agreed, I ask him again and he said it depend on the couple and what situtaion you are in, I don’t want to be dating for 5 years, which is ridiculous before I get engaged. I know I have been dating him for 8 months and agree that is too soon, but I think one and half to two years is acceptable. What are some thinks I could say to him to tell him how I feel without him thinking I am pressuring him.

My boyfriend is a different religion and always asks me to meet with the elders. I am curious if he is dating me just to convert me or if he really likes me. I am a 17 yearold male and I havent dated many girls previously. Currently I found another girl whos 16 and we like each other and have been out on a couple of dates to the movies and to eat. So we just started dating about 2 days ago, and our first time hangin out in person since them is this weekend at the blackberry festival/car show..
